to reach a more specific and helpful diagnosis for your treating
After residency training in pathology (or dermatology) dermatopathologists
undergo an additional 1-2 years in fellowship training, followed
by board certification. Skin disease has many unique aspects that
at times can make the correct diagnosis very challenging.
Dermatopathologists study your biopsy in the context of the the
clinical history provided in order to render a more accurate and
specific diagnosis. Dermatopathologists work closely with your treating
physician on difficult cases to
help guide the most appropriate therapy and treatment.
